Peyop
Peyop is the legendary founder of the city of Peyop and progenitor of the Peyopan people. He is said to have reigned during five total solar eclipses or "Great Intercourses," marking his reign as leader of his people sometime before 1733 or 1710 BCE and after either 1679 or 1666 BCE. Beyond founding the city, he was known for his great strength in wrestling the Saho River to protect his people from a flood. After his death, his descendants would hold his femur bone as a scepter, signifying their royal authority as Menzu, and they would frequently sleep by his burial mound and later in his pyramid at the Royal Necropolis for advice and guidance in their dreams. Peyop was also regarded to have ascended to the heavens as the star Sirius, and was the ancestral protector and interceder of Peyop and later Sa-Peyop for the gods.
